Instinct Evaluation
Introduction to Livestock
If you wish to attend and practice with your dog at a THCSDA practice day or Fun Trial; and you are a new member; and/or new to herding, you are required to go through Instinct Evaluation/Introduction to Livestock. This test is conducted by Sheryl McDonald or Catherine Laria. They may waive the requirement if your dog is already qualified due to training or your past experience. Contact Sheryl or Catherine to attend instinct testing or obtain an exemption. These requirements are for the safety of the dog, the handler, and the livestock.
Evaluations are conducted by appointment and there is a $25.00 livestock charge. Sheryl McDonald is located in Leander, Texas near Austin. Catherine Laria is located in Bulverde near San Antonio.
